Where the Hidden Things of Life Begin to Show

Where the Hidden Things of Life Begin to Show

This painting is a heavily textured linescape featuring vivid, expressionist color, & geometric elements.

The landscape imagery is a dreamlike interpretation of streams running through the forest in my local Millcreek Canyon where I go hiking. Painted in impasto acrylic with mix-ins that seem to leap off the canvas and create a dynamic depth through glossy texture.  Folk-style botanical motifs weave throughout the overlapping lines of this mysterious, whimsical painting.

Title is inspired by the WWI Charles Wittlesey letter, which includes the line: "Out here in the woods...where the hidden things of life begin to show, one learns new things."

Featuring luminous turqouise, violet shadows, buttery yellows, and jade green, with liquid gold leaf accents.

The piece is continuously painted around the sides Can be wired to hang for no additional fee, simply request it in the custom text field when you order.
Materials are acrylics on stretched canvas with acrylic mix-in materials and gold leaf. Finished with gloss varnish to protect vibrancy of colors.  Signed on front. 16x20 inches and 3/4 inch deep.
