High Uintas Summer Rain

High Uintas Summer Rain

Stormy skies turn into a tropical party in this imaginative mountainscape.

Many layers of textured underpainting work with foreground details to create an eye-catching composition.  The combination of composition and color make for a magnetic, dreamy original. This painting is inspired by one of my favorite mountain lakes in the High Uintas.  This national forest contains Bald Mountain, a striking rock formation seen in the background of this painting, reflected in the aptly named Mirror Lake.  Foliage bursts around this lake in the summer, but storms sweep the area often, and unexpectedly.  This piece captures the electric feeling of a sudden storm beginning in the heat of summer, over the lake.

Thick drips of paint illuminate the stormy sky and emphasize the must-touch texture of the piece. Painted in fauvist jungalow style with folk accents, the lustrous hues will bring color and a sense of adventure to your space.

It features a range of glowing colors including pthalo blue, fuschia, sandy beige, and emerald green.

Colors featured include salamander orange, fiery coral, pthalo blue, and dusky pink.

The sides are painted so it is ready-to-hang as is, or can be framed. Materials are mixed media on canvas sealed with gloss for protection.

20x30" and 3/4" deep
